Upgrading and updating a Live license
Upgrading to a new version of Live (e.g. from Live 9 to Live 10) or from differently featured editions, like Intro to Standard or Suite, would be a paid upgrade. Updating a Live license during the life cycle of Live 10, such as the update 10.0.6 to 10.1, is free for the license holder.
If you already own a Live license, you are automatically eligible for discounted upgrade pricing. Our shop calculates your personal upgrade options based on the Live license registered in your account. You can log into your Ableton.com account and then visit our webshop to see the available upgrade offers with your current license selected.
Educational licenses can also be upgraded at the regular discounted price, however we do not offer an additional EDU discount on upgrades.
Keep in mind that the web shop will only display the available upgrades for your current license. For example, a Live Lite license can only be upgraded to Standard or Suite, so there would be no upgrade to Intro displayed.
We also do not offer an upgrade from older versions of Intro to newer versions of Intro, however an Intro license can be upgraded to Standard to Suite, or you could purchase a new license of the latest version of Intro separately.
Upgrading your Live license will combine your old license into the new one, so you will only see the latest installer of Live in your user account. For example, if you upgrade from Live 9 Standard to Live 10 Suite, you will now have Live 10 Suite displayed in your Ableton.com account and not both Live 9 Standard and Live 10 Suite. If necessary, you can always download your older version from the Download Archive.
