Troubleshooting serial registration problems

Certain issues may prevent a Live or Push serial number from registering as normal.

• If the serial is listed as already registered to another user
• If the serial is shown as invalid during the registration process
• If you did not receive a serial number with your order

If the serial is listed as already registered to another user

When attempting to register a Live or Push serial, the error message "This serial is already registered" displays on the account page.

You may have previously registered the product using a different email address. Log out of the current user account and log in to your old account. In case you have forgotten your password, you can reset it.

If you're trying to register a Live Lite serial number that came with a piece of hardware, you can request a replacement serial number.

If you bought the software or hardware second-hand, the previous owner must send us a license transfer request.

If you continue having problems with the license, please contact our Support team and provide the serial number, along with any email addresses you may have used to register in the past.

If the serial is shown as invalid during the registration process

When attempting to register a Live serial number, the error message "Invalid serial number" is displayed.

Live and Push serials are 24 digits long, with a mixture of numbers and letters.

If you purchased a hardware product that comes with Live Lite, and did not receive a valid serial, follow these steps to request a replacement.

If you have Push and do not have the serial number, please contact Support with the barcode number on the back of the device and a proof of purchase for further assistance.

If you did not receive a serial number with your order

If you ordered a license from Ableton.com the serial should be automatically registered to whichever email address you were logged in with during the purchase. If you were not logged in, you should receive an email confirmation containing the serial number.

If you ordered a license from a third party, they should have provided you with a 24 digit serial to register on Ableton.com. Please contact any third party directly if the serial number is missing from your purchase.
