No audio input on macOS Mojave

  • Live Versions: 10, 9
  • Operating System: MacOS 10.14

After updating to macOS Mojave, you may receive the following system message when launching Live for the first time:

You need to click "OK", otherwise you won't hear audio from any inputs in Live.

As of macOS Mojave, audio applications must be given explicit permission to access audio inputs. Although the Apple security message mentions "microphone", it actually applies to all audio inputs (internal microphone, USB microphones and any inputs on external audio interfaces).

In case you already clicked "Don't Allow" you can still grant access in System preferences here:

  • System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy > Microphone > Allow Ableton Live 10 access
