Installing Multiple Versions of Live
You can install more than one version of Ableton Live on your computer. For example, if you have Ableton Live 10 installed, you can then install Live 11, and continue using each version. However, running multiple versions at the same time is not recommended.
It's also possible to have several minor versions of Ableton Live installed, such as the current release version plus previous releases. For example:
Downloading an older Live version
Previous Live versions are available in the Ableton download archive. You'll need a corresponding Ableton Live serial number in order to authorize the installation.
Installing another Live version
On macOS, you can rename the existing Live application before installing another version:
- Open your Applications folder.
- Select the existing Live application and press Enter to rename it.
- Install the new Live version.
On Windows, you will be asked if you want to replace the present installation. Click "Install other" and follow the instructions.
Authorizing older Live versions
When installing older versions of Live, it may not be possible to authorize Live Online. In this case, it is often best to Authorize Live Offline.
Preventing automatic updates
If you're installing an earlier version of Live, you may want to disable automatic updates in Live's Preferences → Licenses / Maintenance.
