Live asks for authorization at every launch (macOS single-user environment)
If you're using Ableton Live on macOS 10.15 Catalina or later and are prompted to re-authorize Live after every system software update, an outdated Options.txt file entry is likely the cause. To prevent additional authorization prompts, follow the steps below to delete several files from your computer, which are hidden by default. Before proceeding, follow this link to learn how to access hidden folders.
- Close Live
- Navigate to Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live x.x.x/ and delete the file Options.txt
- Delete all earlier Live version folders from Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/
- Delete the Unlock.json file from /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Ableton/Live x.x.x/Unlock
- Delete all earlier Live version folders from /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Ableton/
- Launch Live and follow the prompts to authorize. You should not be prompted to authorize again after completing these steps.
