What is rent-to-own?
The rent-to-own program allows you to rent a Live 12 Suite EDU license on a monthly basis. You can extend the plan every month and as soon as your payments have reached the full price of the license, you own it.
Who is eligible to use rent-to-own?
Rent-to-own is currently only available for Live 12 Suite EDU licenses. This means that you have to meet our EDU eligibility requirements in order to use rent-to-own. We hope to expand this payment option to more Ableton customers in the future.
Where is rent-to-own available?
Rent-to-own is available globally for all countries in which Live can be bought through our Educational webshop.
Is rent-to-own a permanent subscription?
Rent-to-own is not a permanent subscription service. After the last of 12 monthly payments, your license belongs to you permanently and there are no further charges.
Are there any additional costs when using rent-to-own?
There are no hidden costs or fees - the full cost of a Live Suite EDU license bought with rent-to-own is the same as buying a Live Suite EDU license directly.
Can I cancel my payment plan?
You can cancel your plan anytime - there is no obligation to pay off the entire rent-to-own amount. Please note, that if you cancel your plan, you won’t have access to the license after your current billing period anymore.
Can I pause my plan and continue at a later time?
It’s possible to indefinitely pause or resume the plan at any time. During the pause, you won’t have access to your rented license. Your progress towards owning the license will not be affected.
Can I pay up the remaining charges earlier if I want to?
You can pay the remaining amount and own the license earlier.
Can I transfer my license to somebody else?
You can only transfer your license once you have finished the 12 payments and the license belongs to you.
Does my rent-to-own license require an internet connection to run Live on my computer?
Each time your computer connects to the internet, Live will run an authorization check to confirm that your payment plan is still active. You’ll be granted up to 3 days of offline access before another authorization check is required. If Live can’t authorize after the 3 days, it will deactivate.
