Multi-Client Operation Drivers(Windows)

  • Live Versions: All
  • Operating System: Windows

FlexASIO is a universal ASIO driver, meaning that it is not tied to specific audio hardware. This can be used for multi-client operation over ASIO4ALL since it is set to exclusive mode by default. FlexASIO permits multiple applications, e.g.other DAWs, and browsers, to share the same audio driver. This allows audio to run simultaneously from Live and any other applications.

This driver can be used to interface with any sound API available on a Windows system. This makes it possible to emulate a typical Windows application that opens an audio device in shared mode.

This indicates that other applications can use the same audio devices simultaneously, with the Windows audio engine mixing the various audio streams. Other universal ASIO drivers do not offer this functionality as they always open audio devices in exclusive mode.

To set up FlexASIO, take these steps:

  • Download and install the latest version of FlexASIO
  • Launch Live and open Live's Preferences --> Audio.
  • Choose ASIO as the Driver Type and FlexASIO as the Audio Device:

  • 32-bit float sample type
  • 20 ms "preferred" buffer size
