How to open Live using Rosetta on macOS
As of Live 11.1, Ableton Live runs natively on Macs with Apple silicon. This means if you use VST2 or VST3 plug-in devices that haven't been updated to run natively on Apple silicon, you'll no longer have access to these in Live. Learn about Mac Compatibility with Ableton Live.
To use VST2/VST3 plug-ins not yet updated to run natively on Apple silicon, you can force Live 11.1 and later versions to run as an Intel application via Rosetta 2, as explained below.
Important: These steps are not needed if all plug-ins are already updated for Apple Silicon. When in doubt, check the latest Apple Silicon and macOS compatibility information provided by each plug-in's developer.
- Find and select Live (version 11.1 or later) in your Applications folder.
- Press CMD + I, or right-click the file (or use the File menu) and select Get Info.
- In the Info window that opens, check the box for Open using Rosetta.
- Close the Info window and re-launch Live.
