How to save Live sets into unique project folders

  • Live Versions: All
  • Operating System: All

Saving multiple Live Sets (.als files) into a single Project folder can be a convenient way to store variations to your song. However, saving multiple Live Sets into a single Project Folder can place an unnecessary strain on Live's file indexer. To reduce this strain (and minimize the risk of indexing errors), it is often necessary to separate these Live Sets into Project Folders of their own.

More info here: File Management FAQs.

To separate your Live Sets into different Project folders, please follow the steps below. This might take a while, depending on the number of Live Sets in the Project. However, in situations where users save a large number of Live Sets into a single folder, the time spent is well worth it.

  1. Open the Live Set.
  2. File → Save a Copy...  [Select a neutral location, outside an existing Live Project; This will create a new Project folder].
  3. File → Collect All and Save  [Be sure to enable all options in the dialogue window that appears].
  4. Open the next Live Set in the original Project folder, and repeat steps 2 and 3.

Once you're done, you can safely delete the original Project folder.
