RNBO Move Takeover

What is RNBO?

RNBO is a library and toolchain developed by Cycling ‘74 that can take user-made patches, export them as portable code, and directly compile that code to targets like a VST, a Max External, or a Raspberry Pi.

What is RNBO on Move?

RNBO on Move is an experimental alpha hardware target that allows RNBO users to export their patches, which then run on Move’s hardware. Via the RNBO environment, the patches take over the hardware completely, allowing users to create custom Audio/MIDI applications on Move. Cycling ‘74 provides documentation to get set up and start building your own custom instruments for the Move

Who can use RNBO on Move?

RNBO on Move is available to users who have both:

  1. A Max license — RNBO is part of Max (by Cycling '74, now part of Ableton). You need an active Max license to build and export RNBO patches.
  2. A Move device — The exported RNBO patch runs as a custom instrument or effect directly on the Move hardware.

Troubleshooting issues with RNBO on Move

Due to its experimental nature, we can only offer limited support for RNBO on Move. If you encounter issues with RNBO on Move, please contact Cycling ‘74 Support or reach out to the Discord Community
