Live 8: Change Location of the Live 8 Library
- Live Versions: 8
- Operating System: All
By default, the Live Library will be installed in the following folders:
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Ableton\
- Windows Vista, Windows 7: C:\Users\[username]\My Documents\Ableton\
- Mac OS X: Macintosh HD:/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Ableton/
If you’d like to move your existing Library or create a new Library, you can do so with the Change Location button in the Library tab of Live's preferences:
Using the Change Location button, you can specify the location on your hard drive where the Library will be stored. This can be within the location of your choice (including external hard drives), but as the Library can become quite large, you should ensure that you select a location with plenty of space.
After choosing a suitable location, Live will ask you if you want to create a new Library or move your existing Library to the new location. Live will then proceed to scan for installed packages and determine which Live Packs (if any) need to be installed. As some of the files are quite large, don’t worry if it takes a while to complete. Installed content will be displayed in the Live Packs section of the Library Preferences.
This way, you can also use several libraries with Live or the same library with multiple Live versions.
