Uninstalling Live 1-9 completely (Win)

Please find instructions to uninstall the Live application completely from your computer, including Library and Pack content. For instructions to uninstall Live 8-1, please scroll down.

Live 9

  1. Start Live, open the Preferences and go to the Library tab.
  2. Write down the paths to Installation Folder for Packs and Location of User Library.

  3. Uninstall Live in the system preferences. You can access this via
    Start→ Control Panel→ Programs and Features:

  4. Now, open Windows Explorer and browse to the Packs and User Library locations you wrote down previously.
  5. Delete these folders. Before you delete them, make sure that you have not stored any personal data inside the User Library that you want to keep.
  6. Delete all the Ableton folder mentioned below. This folder may be hidden on your computer and its vary in regards to the Windows version you have installed. Here's how to access hidden folders on Windows and Mac OS X


    Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10:
    \Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\

    Windows XP:
    \Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Ableton\

Live 8 - 1

  1. Start Live, open the Preferences and go to the Library tab.
  2. Write down the path to Library Location:

  3. Uninstall Live in the system preferences. You can access this via

  4. Now, open Windows Explorer and browse to Library location you wrote down previously.
