Compatible MIDI controllers

Move works with class-compliant, USB Low Speed and USB Full Speed MIDI devices, and it receives Poly Aftertouch data.

USB Powered Devices

Move can deliver up to 500 mA of power on the USB MIDI Port. Certain MIDI controllers require more power; these can be connected using a powered USB hub. Please note that not all available MIDI devices are guaranteed to work.

Unsupported MIDI devices and features

Hi-Speed USB devices, Channel Aftertouch, and MIDI CC are not supported.

MIDI mapping of external MIDI devices is not supported.

  2. Go to Setup by pressing Shift + Step 2 .

  4. Click the wheel to toggle between MIDI Out and MIDI In.

  2. Press Shift  + Step 2 .

  3. Scroll to select MIDI and click the wheel to confirm.

  4. Select MIDI In Only.

MIDI Sync

MIDI clock information is only supported for MIDI In. This means you can sync USB MIDI devices that have internal sequencers and arpeggiators to Move's clock, while using the same device to play sounds on Move.

For USB MIDI devices capable of passing MIDI signals through, such as AKAI MPK Series, additional external gear can also be synced to Move’s clock. This allows Move to act as the central clock source while retaining playability from the connected USB MIDI device.

To view or change MIDI Sync settings on Move:

  1. Go to Move Settings, scroll down to MIDI and press the wheel to open MIDI settings
  2. Click the wheel to toggle between MIDI Out and MIDI In.
  3. The current Sync setting is displayed in the menu, e.g. Sync Send or Sync Off.

To enable Sync for MIDI Out:

  1. With MIDI Out selected, scroll down to the Sync option and click the wheel to open Sync settings.
  2. If Sync is Off, scroll to select Send and press the wheel to confirm.

Note: MIDI Sync can be set to Send or Off through the MIDI entry in the Setup menu, both when Move is set to MIDI In and MIDI Out

Recording MIDI input

To record MIDI notes from a MIDI controller or external hardware device:

  1. Select the track where you want to record MIDI.
  2. The selected track will be armed automatically for MIDI input from your connected MIDI device.
  3. MIDI can be recorded using Record  or MIDI Capture .
