Move Manager and/or Link doesn’t work via Wi-Fi
Can’t connect to Move Manager via USB-C on Windows 10
Move network connections
Connecting Move to a network supports the following features:
Internet connection via Wi-Fi
- Update Move software directly, without using Move Manager
- Authenticate Ableton Cloud
- Sync files with Ableton Cloud
- Sync Set tempo with another Link enabled device
Local network connection via Wi-Fi or USB-C
Move only supports local network connections via the USB-C port connected to a computer, or Wi-Fi. Connecting via an Ethernet adapter is not supported.
- Connect to Move Manager to update software or transfer files
- Sync Set tempo with another Link enabled device
If you’re unable to connect successfully with Move Manager, Ableton Cloud, or Link, check your settings to make sure both your computer and Move are connected to the same network.

Move can’t connect to Wi-Fi
To resolve connection issues with Ableton Cloud, Link, Move Manager, or software updates:
- Check that Wi-Fi is enabled. On Move, press Shift + Step 2 to open Setup, then use the wheel to choose Wi-Fi.
- If your Wi-Fi password contains non-ASCII characters, change it to a new password that contains only ASCII characters.
- For some routers, a correct password cannot be re-entered after entering an incorrect password. To work around this issue, turn off and restart your Wi-Fi router.
- On Move, go to Setup → Wi-Fi and set Wi-Fi to Off, then On again.
- If using a VPN, try disabling it.
Move Manager and/or Link doesn’t work via Wi-Fi
Try these steps if in Live or in another Link enabled product:
- The display doesn't show the connected Move user.
- Move Manager cannot be accessed, e.g. if your web browser fails to finish loading Move Manager or shows an error such as “Page Not Available.”
Solutions for Move Manager & Link
- Make sure Move is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer, and that your Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable.
- Check the Wi-Fi settings on your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Some Wi-Fi networks don't allow communication between devices. Contact the administrator of the Wi-Fi network or check your router settings.
- Your computer may have a firewall installed that doesn't allow communication to Move. Check your firewall settings or temporarily disable your firewall.
- On Move, go to Setup → Wi-Fi
- Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled and connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- Toggle Wi-Fi connection Off and then On again.
- Restart Move.
Solutions for Move Manager only
- If Move Manager displays the message “Error,” check that the computer accessing Move Manager is connected to the internet.
- On Move, go to Setup → Move Manager and use the address shown on the screen, if it's different than move.local/.
- Some browsers will not find the URL unless the "/" at the end of "move.local/" is entered, so make sure this is included.
- Try using a different web browser.
- Find the IP address of your Move via your router using its web interface or app and try using http://{IP_ADDRESS}/ directly.
- On Windows with a VPN enabled: Manually prompt Windows to find the IP address
-
- To open the app Command Prompt, press the Windows key, type cmd and confirm.
-
In the Command Line Terminal that’s now open, type Ipconfig /flushdns.
Note: Android phones that use Android 11 or earlier do not fully support Move Manager, and require Move’s IP address to be entered manually. As the IP address is not displayed on Move, you will need to find the IP address via your router or from a desktop computer via the terminal. In this case, Ableton Cloud authentication is not possible.
Move Manager and/or Link doesn’t work via USB-C
Solutions for Move Manager & Link

- Try a different USB-C cable.
- Try using a different web browser.
- Restart Move.
- Restart your computer.
- Make sure no other device in your local network uses the IP address: 172.16.254.1
Windows 10 only:
