Crash on launch due to an outdated version of Reason (MacOS 10.13)

  • Live versions: All
  • Operating System: MacOS 10.13

If you have a version of Reason earlier than 9.5.2 installed on your computer, this could cause Live to crash on MacOS 10.13 (High Sierra). This is because the ReWire engine file is outdated. This issue may also affect other installed DAWs and audio software on your computer.

Only versions 9.5.2 and higher of Reason are compatible with MacOS 10.13. In order to resolve this, you need to update Reason to the latest version.

Usually launching the newly updated version of Reason will update the ReWire engine files too. In case that doesn't happen you can delete the ReWire files at these locations:

  • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/ReWire/
  • Macintosh HD/Users/[yourusername]Library/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/ReWire

Note: The User level library is hidden by default. Here's how to access hidden folders on Mac.
